All 2023 long we are celebrating our exceptional editor / creative producer, Marianna Pang. Why? Because she is Windsong’s Employee of the Year 2022!

Mar, as we call her, came to Windsong with editing, animation, and composite experience for some pretty major brands. But little did we know what an asset she would become to our creative process at WSP. Mar’s understanding of what’s possible in post-production makes her a powerful contributor to our team. Anytime we face a challenge, Marianna shows up with an idea, solution, or jumping-off point.

Here is just a fraction of the genius of Mar:

When the quarantine of 2020 began, we had to rework our strategy for creating content. A safe work environment meant small, intimate, socially distant sets. The days of casting large group scenes felt indefinitely over. Yet, we still had clients needing a medium to communicate their reworked business strategies to their audience.

For example: How do you communicate what it means, “to be a Phoenix” and connect the lessons from the pandemic to history? This was the challenge we had to solve for Madera Unified. It could have been remedied with animation, but we also didn’t really have the resources or time to animate the entire project in a way that we would be proud of. Well, it just so happened that Marianna had recently been inspired by an art collective that was doing live, hand-animated plays using overhead transfers. With her inspiration, we decided it would be a fun challenge to try and design our own interpretation.

Mar led that charge by structuring and creating the designs, materials, and organization needed for us to hand-animate each section. Then, she was the one to edit it all together. It is a piece we are all really proud of.

In October 2022, Syfy/USA Networks was premiering Season 2 of “Chucky”, a show based on the cult-classic horror film series. Genero asked us to create an augmented-reality experience for NBC Universal. This immersive “Chucky” filter was dreamed up and executed by Marianna. She allowed users to live as a Chucky Doll inside their very own branded box, even if just through their iPhone camera. The internet and our team got quite a kick out of it.

Lastly, conceptualizing is a major skill of Marianna’s. She understands how to communicate long-term brand strategies through subtle visual stories and branding—and let us tell you, ladies and gents, that’s not easy when the possibilities are endless. Marianna is an intimidatingly skilled editor and when she contributes her talents as a Creative Producer in each phase of production, we get to see the depth of her creativity and know-how. And man, is it cool.

Here are three examples of Marianna’s eye for nuance:

Genero for Medifind “Doctor Searches Done Right”

Genero for Grove Collaborative “Moving Beyond Plastic”

Genero for Panera Bread “Unlimited Sip Club”

As you can see, Mar is very impressive at what she does. We are lucky to have her on our team.

Cheers to you, Mar!
