Today we wrap up our short blog series on how each of us ended up doing what we do. If you missed them, you can check out Part One and Part Two.

The idea of telling a story through video and film enticed me. When I was in high school, I had influences in my life praising my work time and time again. As the seasons passed, I got it into my head, “Wow. I’m amazing. I should do this because everyone else is terrible.” Being a narrow-minded, young, pompous individual, I pursued what turned into something I really enjoy and love.

I owe a lot to The Palm Theater in San Luis Obispo. I grew up on the Central Coast of California and this was the only theater playing independent films in the area. Throughout my childhood, I experienced stories that weren’t being told in the larger movie theaters and I began to appreciate and understand the power of cinema. Some notable films that made an impact on me include: “Kids” by Larry Clark, “Lost Highway” by David Lynch, “Suburbia” by Richard Linklater, “The Young Poisoners Handbook” by Banjamin Ross and “Eyes Wide Shut” by Stanley Kubrick, among many others.

I saw Jurassic Park in theaters when I was 8. It blew my mind. Then I saw the Matrix in 1999 when I was 14. It blew my mind. Ever since then, I’ve been wanting to make something that will blow minds.

And now you know why we’re here.
