The Germ 08: A Totally Radical Recap

The eighth installment of The Germ was last night, and we partied like Prince singing in 1982 about partying like it’s 1999.

More than 130 attendees — some who were old school friends and some who were new kids on the Windsong block — crammed into our studio, stuffed their faces with Tako BBQ and other yummy snacks, jammed to some totally radical music, schmoozed with (let’s face it) the coolest dudes and dudettes in Fresno, and watched 10 bangin’ short films.

We kid ’n play you not: It. Was. Legit.

The program for the evening:

  • “Fancy Footwork” by Windsong/Blare Media
  • “Time Machine” by Jon Alfaroi
  • “Incident on Apricot Street” by Lori Yerxa
  • “First Crush” by Haley White
  • “Monster” by Joshua A. Krause
  • “Reality Killed the Video Star” by Steve Aiello
  • “Dead Rabbit” by Sahab
  • “Fear & Loathing Anytown” by Vince Cosentino
  • “Dream Date” by SBSC
  • “The Cheryl Noble Disaster” by Byron Watkins & Conlan Spangler

Watch all the films at thegerm.org. And be sure to join us next time! Or better yet, get started on your own submission. The inspiration for Germ 09 is “Space.” Films must include at least one uncut “long take” shot that is a minimum of 60 seconds (check out some examples, but don’t feel pressured to make anything that elaborate).  The viewing party is scheduled for June 19, 2014 (mark your calendar!). For more information on everything Germ, visit the thegerm.org.
