Spreading Our ‘Germs’

Last night can be summed up in one word: awesome. I know what you’re thinking: Something awesome in Fresno on a Thursday night? The answer is yes. Last night was the third installment of our local film festival, The Germ, and there wasn’t an empty seat in the house. Still unsure about what The Germ is? The event was located at Windsong Productions’ offices and featured an all-you-can-eat candy buffet, the La Elegante taco truck, and cocktails for all… who were of age. But wait, it gets better! Windsong Productions even gave away a 3-month Netflix subscription to one lucky event-goer.

At 8 p.m., Byron introduced The Germ 03 and explained the concept of the film festival. After that, the screening was underway. Last night featured a few serious moments and countless laughs. Here’s the line-up:

Best. Steak. Ever. by Scott/Alex/Matt

Good Times by Dave Werner

All That She Wants by Jon Ostlund

Lost in 2 Dimension by Alyssa Dupuis

Neon by Kyle Lowe

What? by Joshua A Krause

Open Spaces by Jason McGensy

Byron & Anthony’s Summer Vacation by Byron Watkins/Anthony Taylor

RIG by Kyle Gentz

Match Me Maybe by Blake & Jen Barnett

Something For Your Trouble by Suzanne Bertz-Rosa

Aubree Turns 5 by Alisa Manjarrez

Sun Tea by Ryne Santos

Summer Fling by Nicole and Justin McAleece

Enough by Chelsea Gue (Hey, that’s me!)

Summer Internship by Johnny Soto

On a personal note, it was so interesting to see the cultivation of a project I have been hearing about since the beginning of my time here at Windsong. This being my first Germ, I had no idea what to expect. However, the amazing films and invested audience truly made it an unforgettable experience for me.

I love film festivals. Especially ones for shorts, which I feel are a lost art form. Is there any chance any of these fine video productions will be available to view online?
